Susan
Susan had only been at Alpha a few weeks. A friend invited her at the beginning but she had no belief in God and no experience with any thing Christian and was no way interested in coming. However, the friend also invited her to help with our Angel Food Ministry program. Susan, while working with others on Angel Food experienced people who had something she had never experienced before. She felt loved and just happy being with them. So she finally accepted an invitation to Alpha. When she came in she would not sit down for awhile and was very nervous. During the talks when people were asked to look up passages in the Bible she intentionally never touched or opened a Bible. Still she came to the Saturday of the retreat (she wasn’t ready to go so far as to stay overnight). Even at the retreat she wouldn’t open or touch a Bible, but she listened intently and loved being with her new friends. The night before the retreat she had a dream where she saw all the bad things she had done in her life. At the time when people wrote down sins for which they wanted forgiveness and brought them to the fire, she remained in her seat. Then, after everyone else had come up and returned to their seats, she came up surrounded by her whole small group. They remained at the fire a long time, Susan sobbing, all with tears and love pouring out through hugs and gentle utterings of encouragement.
