Samantha
Samantha had come to Alpha retreats before but this time her experience with God went a step further. During the retreat there was a time to write down on a slip of paper anything that was a barrier between you and God and then burn it, symbolically recognizing that it was gone through the work of Jesus. Samantha has suffered abuse as a child and carried the pain all her life. But at this time in the retreat she let go of her hurt, embraced forgiveness to her offender and even prayed for God to forgive her offender. With tears (almost sobs) she shared the burning of this last barrier between her heart and God. Another woman, looking professional and together, shared that her story was very similar.
