    Perm RussiaPerm, Russia
Perm is a city of about 1 million people located 700 miles east of Moscow, on the easternmost end of Europe. For many years under communism, Perm was a closed city which was the base of a military training facility and produced the missile which shot down American pilot Gary Powers in 1960. Perm is currently home to many secular Orthodox Russians who know little about religion or the joy that can be found in Christ.

Perm ChurchAfter supporting a street children’s outreach program in 2000, CMC became a long-term partner of the New Testament Church. The NTC is the largest (at over 2000 members) and most significant Evangelical ministry in the Perm region. While we have been partners, the NTC has continued to grow, planting many churches in cities and villages in the Perm region. As well, CMC has sent four mission teams. The most recent teams have focused on teaching Biblical education at the NTC’s training center for church planters.

    Turkey Initiative
Turkey is a country of over 70 million people in western Asia that are mostly Muslim. There are less than 5,000 Christians in the country, making it one of the most unreached countries in the world.

Christ Memorial started developing relationships with people in Turkey in 2005 and are working with a number of families and organizations in Turkey to expand the gospel and support their efforts to
make a difference for the kingdom of God. (Because of the sensitive nature of this work, we can’t share details online).

    Tirana, Albania
Albania is on the western Balkan peninsula, just north of Greece. It was the last eastern European country to come out of communism in 1992, and Albania continues to be a “developing nation.” It is a predominantly Muslim country, with a large Orthodox and Catholic minority, and very few Evangelical Christians. Since 1993, Bethany Christian Services (BCS) has been operating Group Homes for Orphan Care (Hannah’s House and Rozafa House). These homes care for 40-50 children aged 0-4.

Soon after the fall of communism in Albania, a team from BCS and CMC traveled to Albania and saw the need for orphan care. Since then CMC has been influential in funding the buildings and helping with the operation of BCS Group Homes. Over the years, three different CMC families have served as house parents, and a short-term team assists at the Group Homes about once per year.
