Discipleship

  • Discipleship

    The Christ Memorial Church Mission Statement is:

    Transformed lives transforming our worlds in Jesus’ name

    Becoming a disciple of Jesus involves more than belief.  It is a journey of transformation.  It is a life-long commitment to being a follower of Christ, someone who experiences life the way he did.  It is living life in the power of the Holy Spirit.  It is trusting the promise that we can flourish in the Kingdom of God no matter what our circumstances might be. It means waking up every morning to an adventure with God. It nudges us to reach out to others, loving and serving them in the name of Jesus.

    Christ Memorial Church offers opportunities for developing the facets of a balanced Christian life that we see in Jesus:

    ● a life filled with prayer, in which we enjoy an intimate friendship with God;

    ● a life of obedience, in which our every thought, word, and act is aligned with the life Jesus taught us to live and thereby attracts others to Jesus;

    ● a life empowered by the Spirit, in which we welcome the Holy Spirit and offer our spiritual gifts to help others;

    ● a life of compassion, in which we seek to reach out to serve those in need and bring the peace and love of God to the world;

    ● a life centered on the Bible, in which we are immersed in scripture;

    ● a life awake to God’s presence in the ordinary world, in which we discover that the everyday world around us is infused with God’s presence.
